Greg Hanshaw
CEO / Founder

Greg Hanshaw started in construction in 1982 working for a small home improvement company in the northern Virginia suburb of Mclean. Upon joining Watkins contracting, Greg rapidly rose from helper to carpenter and then project manager, building a strong skill base throughout. In 1987, Greg went to work for Craftmasters construction, seeking experience in larger scale construction. In a short time Greg was made foreman of carpentry, leading a 30+ person crew building high end colonial-style housing projects. After completing a home in Colorado, Greg switched to the Gallick Corporation where he was made general manager of many custom, single-family homes.

In 1992, Greg moved to Telluride Colorado where he quickly found work as the general manager of Boyd Construction, building several luxury mountain homes and a large commercial/residential project Greg founded Vogon Construction at that time. In 1996, Greg went on his own as owner/manager of Vogon, which grew steadily for many years, eventually specializing in fine single-family mountain homes and condominiums, amassing a wide variety of experience in project design and approval processes, engineering, working with funding institutions, project and personnel management, as well as customer relations and after sale follow up.

Over 28 years operating as Vogon Construction, Greg has successfully completed several new custom homes, numerous remodels and additions, and four large-scale residential and mixed-use buildings.

Vogon Construction continues to provide high quality building and remodeling services at a competitive price point. While usually concentrating on only one major project at a time, VCM is always ready to take care of the ongoing remodel and repair needs of our long list of clients.

About Greg:

I was raised by geo scientists, travelling across North America and around the world trying to solve all sorts of puzzles regarding glaciers, volcanoes, seismic faults, hot springs and issues related to subterranean hydrology. After high school and a bit of college I fell into what is my life’s career – designing and constructing well-built, unique structures for people to call home. I am very happy to include many of my past clients among my current friends – some relationships that started with a small project have continued on to close friendships that last decades.

While I was born in Washington D.C. I have been coming to Colorado all my life – living here from time to time until making the Rocky Mountain State my permanent home in 1992.

When I’m not busy building, I often play music with friends, perform for weddings and other special days and every year I open the Telluride Blues & Brews Festival on the main stage with a small group of fellow bagpipers and drummers. The pipe band I play with (West Wind, based in Durango) usually leads the Telluride 4th of July parade. I also play pick up Blues, Jazz & Rock with my collection of saxophones.

I also enjoy camping and watersports with friends as well as scuba diving, winter sports, sailing and offshore fishing, as well as going adventuring by 4wd and ATV. I love to travel and have been to quite a number of foreign countries, Scotland being one of my personal favorites.
